Cannulation Training
This half-day course builds on the Phlebotomy / Venepuncture course to equip candidates with the knowledge and skills to be succesful at IV cannulation in a clinical setting.
By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:
- Have a knowledge of Vascular anatomy and physiology
- Be able to choose the correct veins and select areas to avoid
- Know their legal and professional responsibilities
- Know about sharps disposal and needle stick injuries
- Be able to choose the correct cannula size
- Know how to deal with complications
- Be able to correctly care for a cannulation site
- Practical – manikin cannulation
